New York International Fringe Festival – FringeNYC.
THE CONFESSIONAL is a psychological thriller, written and directed by Jayson Akridge, making its New York premiere at the Fringe Festival. The story concerns Stanley Prentiss, a seemingly mild-mannered high school teacher, who confesses to a horrific murder which may or may not have actually happened. The detectives in charge of the case, Bill Bryce and Carter Munro, set out to find if Stanley is lying. To discover the truth, the detectives journey into the innermost darkness that a human soul is capable of, and must risk their very lives. In the end, all is revealed and none of their lives will ever be the same.
Drawing inspiration from the thriller genre, THE CONFESSIONAL, uses the magnifying lens of a police interrogation room to focus on the pervasive nature of evil. Styled liked a police procedural, the script takes its characters from the very concrete world of facts into the metaphysical, leading them into a desperate struggle for their lives.
